Calendars, Modules, and Title IV - This session will outline the three types of academic calendars -- standard term, non-standard term, and non term. In addition, we will do a deeper dive into the concept of modules and how those affect Pell, Direct Loans, and R2T4. Finally, details around what to do with summer terms and intersessions will help round out your understanding of academic calendars!

The Federal Update - presentation will describe the most recently approved guidance from the U.S. Department of Education and and the office of Federal Student Aid as it relates to the Title IV programs. Statutory and regulatory updates will be provided as well as operational updates and reminders.

9:00 – 10:00         NASFAA Session - Direct Loan Issues– 

This session will review some common issues and frequently-asked questions around Direct Loan administration. We will explore various topics related to packaging, originating, and disbursing Direct Loans.

10:10 – 11:00       FSA Session - Cash Management

Cash Management - This session will provide policy and operational guidance on the cash management requirements set out in 668 Subpart K of the Code of Federal Regulations. This session will include information about: institutions that partner with banks and servicers; making disbursements; notices; authorizations; the advance, HCM1, HCM2 and reimbursement payment methods; returning funds; and books and supplies. This session will also explain the role played by the Department's systems (such as COD and G5) for disbursement, draw downs, and reconciliation of federal student aid funds

Fraud Waste and Abuse-Protecting Tax Payer Dollars- A brief overview of the OIG function, the allegation referral process, and case examples.

1:00 – 2:00            NASFAA Session - Late, Retroactive, and Post-Withdrawal Disbursements-This session will examine the basics of late disbursements, retroactive payments, and post-withdrawal disbursements, the distinctions among each, and the conditions for making them.
